A350 Road closure for urgent gas main replacement A350 Bournemouth Road – Blandford St Mary

A350 Road closure for urgent gas main replacement

A350 Bournemouth Road – Blandford St Mary

From Friday 4 August for three weeks, SGN engineers will begin an urgent programme of work to replace the leaking section of gas main along the A350 south east of the Badgers roundabout. By replacing the gas pipes now, this will significantly minimise the risk of future gas leaks on this section of gas pipe resulting in unplanned disruptive emergency work.

This work is not connected to the network reinforcement work previously carried out opposite the new housing estate near the Badgers Roundabout.

 Road closure A350

Due to the complexity of the engineering work required, the gas main crossing the centre of the road, and the size of the equipment needed, we have no other safe option than to close the road. This will mean there will be no through vehicle access past the closure for the duration of the work. Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained.

We would like to assure residents and the wider community, that all alternative traffic management scenarios have been considered with no other safe option than to close the road.

Map below indicates closure and official diversion.

To ensure these works are completed without delay, engineers will be working from 5am to 10pm seven days a week.

 The official signed diversion route

The diversion route from Badger Roundabout is via the A354 Westbound to Puddletown, join the A35 Eastbound towards Bere Regis, take the A31 Eastbound towards Sturminster Marshall, A350 North back to start of closure.

The diversion route from A350 Roundhouse Roundabout: A31 Westbound to Bere Regis, join the A35 Westbound to Dorchester, at Puddletown join the A354 Eastbound towards Blandford Forum back to Badgers Roundabout.
